Group leader, Prof. Michael Kabesch is a paediatrician, pneumologist and allergologist by training (MD). He is head of the department of pediatric pneumology and allergy at UKR and director of asthmagene.de. He also holds a full professorship for experimental allergy at Hannover Medical School and is a member of the German Lung Research Centre. He is PI of several national and international projects investigating genetic and epigenetic effects on allergic and respiratory diseases with a strong focus on gene by environment interaction analyses and functional genomics. MK is the author and co-author of more than 100 international and national peer-reviewed articles. His h-factor is 24.
