Group leader, Prof. Rainer Friedrich, is deputy director of IER (USTUTT) and heads the department of Technology Assessment and Environment. His major research areas cover technology assessment, the identification of emission reduction strategies, quantification and assessment of environmental damage and risks to human health. He was coordinator of the FP6 projects MAXIMA, NewExt, NATAIR, HEATCO and ESPREME and has been partner and research stream leader in many FP7 projects including INTARESE, HEIMTSA, MEGAPOLI, IN-STREAM, EXIOPOL, URCHENCE and TRANSPHORM.
