Group leader, Joan O. Grimalt. Professor at CSIC. Director of the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research and director of the Center of Research and Development, both from CSIC. Full member of the Catalan Academia (Institut d’Estudis Catalans). President of the Spanish Association of Chromatography and Related Techniques (2007-2012). Expert in the use of chromatography and mass spectrometry methods for the analysis of trace organic compounds in human and environmental samples. Expert in the understanding of the main processes related with the distribution of organic pollutants in the environment and incorporation into humans. To date he has published 114 papers on human toxicity and 222 papers on environmental studies. Some of these papers have been published in Lancet (1), New England Journal of Medicine (1, letter), Nature (1), Science (2), Nature Geoscience (1), Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of USA (1), Environmental Health Perspectives (14), Environment International (10), Environmental Science and Technology (31). He has supervised 42 PhD thesis. His publications have received more than10700 citations. H index 56. He has participated in about 60 projects on impact assessment of organic pollutants in the environment and human health effects.
